Montessori Minutes 10/22

 In Branding

Hi San Tan Montessori Preschool families,

Terrific Tuesday wishes!

Here is the link to order your child’s classroom t-shirt for our classroom t-shirt project beginning this month. Individual classroom stencils are being created for the front-thank you Ms. Graft! Ms. Hubbard will help students complete their shirts with parent volunteers at the end of October-November.

Our hope is to have all shirts completed to be able to be worn for our Munch and Sing on Friday, November 22nd. Please order your child’s shirt as soon as possible.

Outdoor Environment Updates

Outdoor Environment started this week. I wanted to send out a few links and information. Everyone is enjoying spending time outside!  Download weekly newsletter.

What is an outdoor classroom? https://outdoorclassroomproject.org/about/the-outdoor-classroom/

“Fostering an appreciation for nature is a cornerstone of Montessori teachings. Dr. Maria Montessori was a strong advocate of integrating nature into the daily learning plan of all students. She believed that “there must be provision for the child to have contact with nature; to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in nature.”’ – From the Montessori inspired blog, https://www.google.com/amp/s/carrotsareorange.com/montessori-outdoor-classroom/amp/

In the Outdoor Environment, we will be focusing on gardening, practical life, art, and STEM activities. So much of what we do inside can be brought outside, to experience in the fresh air. Exploration that happens outside engages all of our senses in a way that we aren’t able to encounter during typical indoor learning.

We are looking for a few parents to donate material and/or their time and sewing skills to make some outdoor aprons for our students to use while gardening. Please contact me at mhubbard@santancs.com if that is something that you would be able to bless us with!

Also, we are looking for natural items to use in outdoor art. Rocks, leaves, acorns, branches, are all things we could use!  If you happen to be traveling up north, please consider bringing us a few leaves to use!

Warmly,
Megan Hubbard
